DOES YOUR KID HAS
You only have ONE SPINE, take good care of it...
WHAT IS SCOLIOSIS BRACING ?
Scoliosis is a condition that causes an abnormal curve in our spine. Whereas a scoliosis brace is a device worn around the body that can help prevent the curve from getting worse. It can also make it less likely that you'll need surgery in the future after bone growth has stopped.
Do you know that the progression of the curve grows fastest in a child or adolescent whose bones are still growing ? A brace is normally worn at this age to slow down the progression of the curve.
It doesn't work after bone growth has stopped.
HOW DOES IT WORK ?
Rigid braces put pressure on your spine in several places to help prevent it from curving more than it already has. Dynamic braces slow curve progression by retraining your body into mainitaing a corrective posture. Both types of braces may slow progression enough to remove the need for survey, but can't completely or permanently straighten your spine.
WHAT TO EXPECT ?
In One Spine, our Scoliosis Specialist practitioner will begin with consultation and carry on with the taking of X-ray to study the degree of curvature of your spine.
Depending on the curvature and taking into account of ages, sex and lifestyle, scoliosis specialist will then based on those details to choose a proper brace for you.
Brace can be rigid brace or can be dynamic brace depending on your condition. The construction and fitting of brace will take some times and frequent readjustment will take place in order to minimize the curvature.
Re-evaluation will take place every month to keep track on the progress of your curvature.
WHAT IS SCOLIOSIS DIRECTED EXERCISES ?
Beside Bracing, One Spine also offer Scoliosis Directed Exercises to our patients with scoliosis. Scoliosis Exercise is different compare to other rehabilitation exercises.
Scoliosis Directed Exercises is a physical therapy approach to scoliosis treatment. It is based on exercises tailored to each patient's spine curvature. Every patient practice scoliosis exercises differently depends on the location of the scoliosis curve. In One Spine, we practice the method known as Schroth Method.
WHAT IS SCHROTH METHOD ?
The Schroth Method is an exercise approach customized for each patient to return the curved spine to a more natural position.
The goal of Schroth exercises is to :
the spine in a three-dimensional plane.
During the exercises, we focus on :
Restoring muscular symmetry and alignment of posture
Breathing into the concave side of the body
Teaching patient to be aware of their own posture
WHAT OUR PATIENTS FELT AFTER SCHROTH PROGRAM ?
Improved core stability and strength
Improved overall movement pattern
Improved self-management of spine
Better pelvis alignment
Less curvature progression
